About our company  Professional Drug Screening Services Inc. was established in 1988 by Melanie Womble when the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) mandated drug testing for its industry. PDSS is a full-service substance abuse facility specializing in the development of drug and alcohol policy and programs for business and industry as well as managing DOT programs. Companies interested in a safe, productive and drug-free workplace will appreciate the professional expertise, employee support, cutting edge technology and up-to-date information provided by PDSS

Over the years PDSS has diversified to include other business support services such as paramedical services and pre-placement screening. Custom services for businesses and individuals – including paternity testing and services for the legal community – are also available.

About our president  As a registered nurse who became an entrepreneur, Melanie Womble understands the challenges of running a healthy, successful business and has applied her experience toward developing a high performance organization that maintains confidentiality, accurate record keeping, and a passion for client service.

Ms. Womble is actively involved in community activities, serving on boards such as the local chapters of the American Red Cross, the Business & Professional Women’s Association, Wilson Chamber of Commerce and also serves on the national DATIA Collection Issues Committee. The mother of two boys, she is interested in helping expand the availability of parent-initiated, voluntary student drug testing as a community service within the local region.

About our standards,  PDSS is proud to be the only Accredited Collection Facility in the eastern NC area by the National Drug and Alcohol Testing Industry Association (DATIA). This accreditation means the facility, operations, and staff of PDSS meet the highest standards in areas such as regulatory compliance, company services standards, specimen handling, operational practices, business ethics, and facility equipment for drug and alcohol testing specimen collections. A primary requirement of the Accredited Collection Facility Program is that all personnel of PDSS achieve Certified Professional Collector status. PDSS also maintains a staff of Professional Certified Collector Trainers.
